Below you’ll find some details to help you make your decision on printing and paper selections. Options are listed below in order of “budget,” “mid range,” and “splurge” for your reference—starting in order with least to most expensive. Ink colors are endless and too numerous to list. We are happy help you find the palette of your dreams. Just let us know what you’re looking for.
$ – Designer-selected, 160# cover with a smooth or eggshell finish. A more budget-friendly stock while not feeling like you’ve skimped on anything. It provides a very substantial feel and lovely look. The perfect choice when using digital printing—the ink sits nicely on the stock for great color intensity. Available in a variety of colors.
$$ – $$$ – We use a beautiful, premium 100% cotton stock that takes a letterpress and foil impression beautifully. It also provides a suitable surface on which digital printing lays down nicely, with a softer touch than the other selections. It is a premium selection with a pillowy feel that comes in 110# and 220# in a variety of soft pastel colors.
$$$ – The Love Blooms™ Collection—pillowy, recycled, and seeded with non-invasive wildflower seeds including Catchfly, Black Eyed Susan, Baby Blue Eyes, Sweet Alyssum and Siberian Wallflower. Also available in an edible selection featuring a variety of different herbs and veggie seeds—even catnip for the cat lovers. Inquire for a current color selection.
$$$$ – Luxury 100% cotton rag paper is handmade by local artisans using remnant materials from the clothing industry. It is beautifully tactile with a true deckle edge and a variable texture characteristic of handmade paper. Please inquire for the most current color availability. Only with letterpress and foil stamping, available in light and heavy weights.
$ – Digital printing lays the ink onto the surface of the paper. It works with either of the designer-selected stocks or with 100% cotton wove. The set up for digital printing is a faster process, so it’s the best choice for a faster turnaround time, as well being more budget friendly. We do not offer digital printing on handmade paper for semi-custom selections.
$$ – Letterpress uses raised plates to press the ink into the paper, creating an impression, or debossed affect. It is especially tactile when used on our pillowy 100% cotton wove or handmade rag papers. We don’t advise using the 160# papers with letterpress. Since it’s stiffer and more resistant to the plate impression you won’t get the desired deep impression.
$$$ – Cold foil lays on the paper surface rather than creating an impression like foil stamping. It is a more budget-friendly option than foil stamping and is a great way to shimmer and shine without a huge budget. We only offer cold foil on the designer-selected smooth stock. It comes in a wide variety of colors and is a great option for a fun look.
$$$$ – Foil stamping, uses plates like letterpress to press the foil into the paper, creating a debossed look. It’s perfect on the more pillowy cotton wove and handmade papers. It is opaque and therefore is the only option available when selecting any of the dark colored papers. For example if you’d like white printed on black or navy, foil stamping is the only method to get that look.
